I have been in love with beads since I was a child. Something about the way light played off of the colors, as if the bead actually captured the light only to release it transformed into a magical iridescence, always fascinated me. Although I worked in other mediums for many years, it was inevitable that I would succumb to this fascination and do my most fulfilling work with these most ancient and elemental building blocks.

My work is intended to evoke an emotional response. It is designed to take advantage of the tactile quality of the beads, their light capturing properties, and their color palate to infuse energy into each and every piece I create. In order to accomplish this, however, a great deal of creative effort must first be put into the armature that will support the observable exterior of the finished piece but never be seen. As with much in life the foundation must support the beauty or the structure crumbles.

One aspect of creativity is the ability to conceive of something beautiful inside and manifest that beauty into something tangible on the outside. In a way it is like taking something spiritual and transforming it into action. My spiritual creative energy flows from my soul to my hands. It becomes beaded objects which are sometimes beautiful, sometimes disturbing, at times contemplative and curious but always containing part of who I am at my inner most self.

I truly believe that we each follow our own path to creativity and inspiration. I get great personal satisfaction in helping others find their own spiritual creative force. It is especially rewarding when I am allowed the privilege to guide them in releasing that energy through beaded art.
